A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Indian hockey captain Sardar Singh, accusing him of rape and criminal intimidation, by a British national of Indian origin, in New Delhi.

According to industry body, Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), introducing hardware and software tweaks in smartphones and feature phones will not solve the issue of safety and security of women in India. This is in context of the compulsory panic button to be introduced in all smartphones in India. Several emergency numbers and safety apps that have been launched in the past have not been effective due to a lack of an effective response management system.

Saksham, an NGO, arrived at the disturbing figures by analysing RTI replies for missing children, of a slum near Shahbad Dairy, in outer Delhi. 171 children went missing between December 2013 and March 2015. More horrifying is the fact that five children — four of them below 10 — were killed; 28 girls have been raped and another 17 sexually abused.

In the case of sexual harassment complaints against two staff members at Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), reports were handed over last week and order has declared both the staff members guilty. The order asking them to enter retirement from 17th June 2016 has been sent to them.
