Feminism in India in collaboration with TARSHI have launched a campaign ‘#WhyCSE – CSE In The Classroom’ to emphasise the need for Comprehensive Sexuality Education in schools. The campaign explores the role of schools and educators in discussing sexuality related topics with young people, and how sexuality education goes beyond ‘sex ed’ or talking about sex. We had a tweet chat on the necessity of CSE in our classrooms.
The tweet chat had many people write in with their experiences of sexuality education in school (or lack thereof), and how CSE might have helped them had they been in school. The tweet-chat also delved into what exactly CSE covered – issues of body image, relationships, desire, gender roles, gender identities, sexual orientations, sex and sexuality.
