FII Turns 5 Today!

Today is our birthday!! FII turns 5 today—on 19th August—and I couldn't be more excited!

Hello FII Family!

Today is our birthday!! FII turns 5 today—on 19th August—and I couldn’t be more excited! Five years back, we published our first article today and thus began the journey of India’s biggest and most popular feminist media platform. From being an informal Facebook page run by a one-woman team, FII now has 5 badass women helming the ship and more writers, followers and subscribers than ever before!

From the picture L-R, we have Swati Singh – Hindi Editor, Pragya Roy – Content Editor, Japleen Pasricha – Founder-Director, Asmita Ghosh – Campaign Manager, and Suman Saurav – Digital Editor. With our little team growing in size slowly but surely, so is the impact of our work. None of this would have been possible without the constant following, support, and constructive criticism of our well-wishers. I can’t thank you enough for rooting for us!

Today, we are celebrating our birthday with our community—we are sharing the experiences, stories and anecdotes of our community members and their journey with FII on social media. You can also get on the festive train by wishing us a happy birthday by tweeting with #FIITurns5! I’d love to hear from you. 🙂

FII is mostly boot-strapped and requires funds to keep the website running ad-free, and pay for our core costs like a small office space and the salaries of our core team members. We also want to be able to pay our brilliant writers better rates, have more feminist events (possibly in cities outside of Delhi-NCR), and create more feminist resources that are time-intensive.

A few hundred rupees or a few thousand would go a long way in helping us stay free and keep serving you the fresh feminist content that you love! On our 5th birthday, your contributions would make for the best birthday gift. Share your support by tweeting with #FIITurns5.

I’m looking forward to hearing your stories and experiences of how FII impacted you!

Warmly,
Japleen
