Supreme Court Observer Is Looking For A Senior Associate Editor

    Website Supreme Court Observer

Supreme Court Observer (SCO) reports on and makes sense of the Supreme Court of India. We track selected cases: access and share court submissions; produce daily reports of court proceedings; and analyse decisions in plain language. We seek to enable common citizens to develop an understanding of the role of the Court in Indian public life through contemporaneous reporting and by exploring a living archive of the Court’s work.

    About the Role

The Senior Associate Editor (SAE) will take editorial decisions that will inform all reporting, writing and editing work of the SCO team. The SAE will closely track the developments at the Supreme Court. They will identify cases and stories that have the potential to significantly impact the development of law or otherwise impact the general public.

The SAE will oversee the live reporting and ensure that these reports are edited, fact-checked and published on time. They will also ensure that all case related writing and materials are procured and made public. The SAE will coordinate these tasks with the SCO team.

The SCO team comprises dedicated Court Reporters and Associate Editors. The SAE will provide editorial leadership and supervise the work of this team. They will develop and maintain a distinct voice for the SCO across the website and social media platforms. The SAE will review and edit pieces in a manner that makes them accessible, insightful and succinct.

The SAE will work closely with the team to develop and implement a communications strategy that will direct SCO’s social and digital media presence. They will also frame guidelines for public outreach.

The role is based out of SCO’s office at Bangalore.
