The Role

Condé Nast India is seeking a Communications Director. Based in Mumbai, the person will oversee all communications across all 3 of our Condé Nast India hubs and help lead strategic brand communications for Vogue, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveller. The Communications Director will collaborate closely with editorial leaders and the local business leadership team to build a strong, integrated communications program and drive innovation among the team to help amplify the journalism, content and leadership across the brands in new ways. The Communications Director will aggressively create new opportunities to expand the reach and influence of the iconic brands and to elevate their world-class editorial and business narratives. The role will report to the company’s Vice President of Communications based in Paris.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement ambitious, forward-thinking communications strategies that advance Condé Nast’s strategic priorities.
  • Engage effectively with key internal stakeholders to understand and align strategic objectives.
  • Foster collaboration and build strong, productive relationships across diverse teams.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and cooperation.
  • Leverage interpersonal skills to navigate complex interactions and drive alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Help to drive proactive consumer communications for Condé Nast’s wide range of brands including Vogue, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveller.
  • Collaborate closely with the global communications team, local leadership team and editorial leadership on wider narrative positioning and business strategy.
  • Manage crisis communications strategies and responses.
  • Cultivate top-tier media relationships to secure opportunities for key editorial and business priorities including brand launches, newsworthy content and events.
  • Develop and lead communications strategy for tentpole brand events: advising edit team on execution, guest lists, overseeing red carpet and onsite press access.
  • Brainstorm new events and franchises with top edit team.
  • Identify third-party commentary topics, trends and news agenda items in order to proactively pitch and secure daily media coverage.
  • Act as a key corporate communications contact for Condé Nast India and help to manage external media enquiries and speaking engagements for relevant Condé Nast staff.
  • Produce high-quality written materials including key messaging, narrative, press releases, Q&A and statements.
  • Develop internal communications strategy through newsletters, internal channels (slack), internal events, and coordination with other departments within Condé Nast India.
  • Responsible for leading and developing the India Communications team, providing mentorship and guidance to support their professional growth.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in Media and/or Entertainment Communications. PR agency and/or luxury background is a plus.
  • Expert in communications with high standing and a known reputation in media and among top journalists.
  • Confident driving strategy with senior leaders and executives; ability to work collaboratively across global teams.
  • A clear understanding of the changing face of the media landscape to inform the creation of new PR strategies.
  • Consistent track record of securing high-level media coverage in news, trade, consumer and entertainment press.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Successful experience managing and contributing to events from a PR perspective – including managing media on-site and supporting overall event logistics and guest lists.
