Website Supreme Court Observer
Supreme Court Observer (SCO) reports on and makes sense of the Supreme Court of India (SC). We track selected cases: access and share court submissions; produce daily reports of court proceedings and analyse decisions in plain language. We seek to enable common citizens to develop an understanding of the role of the Court in Indian public life through contemporaneous reporting and by exploring a living archive of the Court’s work.
About the Role
The Communications Associate will manage communications, and multimedia production for SCO. Together with the SCO Team, the Associate will develop a distinctive and sharp social media voice for SCO. The Associate will devise strategies for a curated, interactive social media presence for SCO.
The Communications Associate will conceptualise and produce podcasts for SCO’s channel. In these podcasts, SCO explains significant developments in SC cases that influence Indian public life. We interview academics and lawyers with specialised knowledge and interest in significant cases as well.
The Associate will be expected to regularly manage the look and feel of the website. This will include designing visuals and infographics to accompany the articles and reports published by the SCO Team. The Associate may also lead improvements to the website’s layout and design along with our team of web developers.
The role is based out of SCO’s office in Bangalore.
Our ideal candidate is an individual who is passionate about the Supreme Court’s work and its impact on India’s constitutional democracy and committed to communicating this to the public at large. They will also have a strong design sense and an interest in exploring and executing new dissemination strategies.
Candidates must have
- An undergraduate degree in Communications, Mass Media, and Public Relations with a strong academic background.
- Masters’ degree in relevant field (Preferred)
- 1 to 3 years of experience in journalism, publishing, or marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to convert long-form articles into accessible and attractive social media content
- Demonstrated experience with podcast production
- Keen design eye.
