LCW maintains the largest database of ongoing land and resources conflicts in India. Leveraging this data, we carry out deep research on issues of land and resource conflict. We are a young multi-disciplinary team of researchers, writers and lawyers.
For the database, our community of 35+ part-time researchers, based in different regions, file detailed case studies on land and resource conflicts as they occur in their regions. They file these case studies in a structured format provided by LCW. They also periodically update these case studies as conflicts evolve over time.
Take a look at one of the case studies filed by our state researcher here.
The Field Research Lead supervises the team of state-based researchers, oversees their reports, enables them and ensures the quality of their work as well as their productivity. In order to do so, the Field Research Lead oversees the functioning of a proprietary Content Management System through which the case studies are filed and finally published on our public-facing website. You can get a glimpse of our CMS here.
On an average, about 10-15 case studies are filed, reviewed and published in a month, while around 5-7 case studies are updated in a month with the latest information. The Field Research Lead is responsible for this process from the start to the end. She/he is also responsible for uploading/changing content on the Land Conflict Watch website.
The Field Research Lead is self-driven, capable of leading and cultivating a team of field researchers who come from diverse backgrounds. She/he is capable of supervising the quality of meticulous field research, editing and fact-checking it and is expected to enable the part-time researchers to grow with LCW through innovative opportunities and meaningful engagements.
